gr 6 - newspapers
The grade 6s are starting a newspaper unit where we will be analyzing and writing news articles. If you have any old newspapers at home, please bring them in by Monday.
Number Sense unit test FRIDAY
We are now finished our current unit. This week is devoted to review. Extra practice worksheets have been handed out to all that feel they need the practice.

Reminder: grade 6 retreat
This is reminder that the grade 6 retreat at St. Monica is next Tuesday, April 21st. Buses will pick students up in the morning at 9:15am.

-presently learning decimals, fractions, percents and rounding
-next week we'll be completing a group task that will be marked
-still accepting measurement make-up tasks
Language:
-brainstorming, researching and organizing ideas for the realistic fiction story
-rough drafts (self edited) due Friday, April 17th
-second draft due Monday, April 20th (peer editing will be done in class)
-good copy due Thursday, April 23rd (typed or written)

Measurement tests
Hope everyone had a relaxing long weekend :)
The measurement tests are being handed back this week. There will be an optional make-up assignment for those that scored below a 3-. Those students will be eligible of bringing their mark up a full level. (e.g. 1- to a 2-)

grade 6 Social Justice Project
The grade 6 students have been working on their social justice projects all week. They are asked to have all of their research completed as well as their photos printed out by TUESDAY. The block on Tuesday will be devoted to getting their boards prepared. The final product is due WEDNESDAY. Students have to have the three-panel boards in order to advance to the finals.
