Classes will be collecting canned food items for this campaign. Please donate anything you can.
Pumpkin Raffle:
Each classroom will be carving/decorating a pumpkin in a creative way. Thursday morning, pumpkins will be displayed and students can win them to bring home. Tickets will cost: 3 for $1.00, or 2 for 50 cents.
This site will be regularly updated with reminders for all subject areas, as well as other events in the classroom and around the school.

Tuck Everlasting Chapter Tasks
Chapters 7-9
Making Connections: Describe in detail a person, place or situation that you made a connection with in chapter 7, 8 or 9. Make sure to include information about the story AND your own life.
- Why is it important to remember that the cat didn’t drink from the spring? (chapter 7)
- What causes Winnie to feel such a comfort with the Tucks, as though they are her friends? (chapter 8)
- How would you feel if you had to leave your home and lose your friends and family?
Vocabulary: Find three words in this chapter that are unfamiliar or challenging. Define each.
Chapters 10-11
Summarizing: Briefly retell the main events that occurred in chapter 10. (min. 5 sentences and max. 10)
Compare and Contrast: Create a three-ring Venn diagram to compare Winnie, another character of your choice and YOU!
Multiplication facts
Students should be practising their single digit multiplication facts on a daily basis. They can use the multiplication link in the blog to practise online. Here is a helpful video that teaches some tricks.
Math update
We are currently finishing up the
Grid Systems/Transformations unit in math.
Students will have a unit test next Wednesday, October 30th.
Grade 5s will need to know:
- cardinal directions (north, east, south, west)
- translations & reflections
Grade 6s will need to know:
- coordinate grid (first quadrant)
- translations, reflections & rotations (90 degrees and 180 degrees)

Tuck Everlasting Chapter Tasks
Students will be given chapter tasks to complete for our novel study every few days. The first set (1-3) is due today and the second set (4-6) is due next Wednesday. I will collect both sets next week so students can bring their notebooks home this weekend. I am posting these tasks below; however, they should also be glued and completed in the language notebooks.
Chapters 1-3
- Explain why people did not go through the wood.
- Why do you think that Tuck only smiled when he was asleep?
- Why does Mae only see her boys every ten years?
- How would you feel if you were put in Winnie’s situation?
Reflecting: What are your first thoughts of this book? What are you wondering about at this point?
Vocabulary: Write the definition of the following words.
