Definition of FANTASY

Fantasy fiction is a genre of writing in which the plot could not happen in real life (as we know it, at least). Often, the plot involves magic or witchcraft and takes place on another planet or in another — undiscovered — dimension of this world.

Students are asked to discuss the "impossible element" that lands the novel Tuck Everlasting into the fantasy genre in the chapter 16-18 task.

Tuck Everlasting Chapter Tasks

  3. Why do you think Jesse wants to marry Winnie? How will it be beneficial to him? Will it be as beneficial to her? (chapter 14)
  4. Is a life more valuable than property? Why do you feel this way? (chapter 15)

Transformations Tests

Students were given their Geometry transformations test back today. After calculating the class average, it came out to be a C. This is not surprising given the fact that it is one of the more challenging units. Nevertheless, my policy is that when the class average falls below a B-, I give students an opportunity to further show their knowledge and understanding through an extra credit task. Students completed this task today (it was optional for those that received an A-, A or A+ on the test). I will look over the tasks this week and marks will be adjusted accordingly.
