Grade 5 Study List
1. Numbers We Are Working With:
Whole numbers up to 100 000
Decimals up to hundredths (e.g., 12.34)
2. Skills to Practice:
Identifying Place Value: Name the place value of any digit (e.g., in 45 238.19, the 5 is in the thousands place and the 1 is in the tenths place).
Representing Numbers: Write numbers in standard form (45 238.5), expanded form (40 000 + 5 000 + 200 + 30 + 8 + 0.5), and word form.
Rounding: Round whole numbers to the nearest 10, 100, 1 000, and 10 000. Round decimals to the nearest whole number and tenth.

Decimals up to thousandths (e.g., 1.234)
2. Skills to Practice:
Identifying Place Value: Name the place value of any digit from millions down to thousandths.
Representing Numbers: Write numbers in standard form (1 458 203.125), expanded form, and word form.
Rounding: Round whole numbers up to the nearest 100 000. Round decimals to the nearest whole number, tenth, and hundredth.
💡 Quick Home Tips:
The word "and" is used only for the decimal point when writing numbers in words (e.g., "forty-two AND five tenths").
Rounding Rule: 4 or less, round down; 5 or more, round up!
